Bone buttons are often found during excavations of historic sites and have even been recovered from shipwreck sites such as the El Cazador in the Gulf of Mexico. They were usually made of cow or pig bone. Button makers would start by soaking or steaming them to soften them. Then, they would cut them into sheets and cut disc blanks out of the sheets. These blanks would be polished and drilled for holes so they could be attached to garments.
We offer three sizes of bone buttons 1-inch, 5/8-inch, and 1/2-inch. They come in packs of 12. They are handmade from genuine bones and feature a nice, polished finish.
