Soldiers would use boards like this to polish their buttons without messing up their uniforms. There are examples of boards made of both metal and wood. Our board is made of maple wood and finished with linseed oil. It measures 8 inches long and 2 inches wide. The hole can accommodate a button up to 1 1/4 inches.
